"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. ” Colossians 3:16

This verse is written to the church within a section of scripture that teaches us how we live together as the family of faith in Jesus. Specifically, we’re to let the word of Christ dwell richly within us, we’re to teach and admonish one another and sing together with thankfulness.

Weekly on a Tuesday, all the church family meet in groups to read the bible together. Not as a fact finding exercise where we merely learn stuff, but a time when we pray that the word of Christ would change and shape our heart’s desires. If it were likened to food, this isn’t a time when we learn about food and all its various flavours and uses, but we actually enjoy an extended mealtime together which satisfies our hunger and fuels our bodies!

The fellowship groups take place in homes and are led by the church elders. Everyone is encouraged to participate in discussion and prayer as we seek out Jesus words for us in every passage of scripture. Most recently we have been using the ‘Book by Book’ study resource provided by Biblical Frameworks. Each session has a short video introduction to the passage, discussion questions and a weekly programme of readings and commentary for the personal study and reflection.

Time to time we listen to one of the Brooklyn Tabernacle sermons from Pastor Jim Cymbala. - http://www.brooklyntabernacle.org/media/webcast
