Children’s Sunday clubs can quickly become a child minding exercise or an hour’s worth of entertainment to pass the time – not at Shields church! We have a dedicated team of volunteers within the church family who plan and deliver an engaging encounter with the scriptures each week. Working through the full council of God’s word, we strive to meet the living Jesus in every story and to bring our young children to a deeper relationship and closer walk with Him.
Currently, we have two main groups. Our tots group for under 4s and our Explorers group for 4+. The tots will typically learn through song, play and simple activities whereas the school age children will engage in a routine of spoken story, visual media, singing, craft, memorisation and prayer. Our children’s leaders and helpers, appointed by the elders for their godly character and gifting, recognise that they are delivering much more than a curriculum and prayerfully commit themselves and the weekly sessions to God, that He might work in our children’s hearts and bring them closer to Jesus.
In accordance with the church’s safeguarding policy, all leaders and helpers in the children’s work must undergo a disclosure from the DBS to ensure they are suitable to work with children. For more information about safeguarding or the disclosure service provided for us by CCPAS, please request a copy of our policy using our Contact Us page.
