Christmas 2018

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. ” Isaiah 9:2

Christmas time is a time of joy, fun and celebration, but for many it can be a time of dread as it reminds people of what they don’t have.

The bible promises: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness, a light has dawned.” Isaiah 9:2

This week we are going on a journey to discover who this light is and what that can mean for our lives. We believe Christmas brings a message of hope to all people, please come and discover for yourselves.

Sunday 23rd and 30th of December at Ocean Road Community Association NE33 2DW

  The Light has dawned.

The Light has dawned - Really? It can sometimes look quite the opposite!

We can have many questions about ourselves and our world, when at times much seems to be going wrong! Our relationships and friendships can be broken, often hard to manage or even keep - and not just that, our world appears to be broken too with conflict, famine, poverty and injustice everywhere we look. Is there any hope for us in this dark world?

Christmas can be a very troubled, sad and lonely time for so many of us. We therefore invite you to come with us on a journey this week to discover ‘this light’ which will change your Christmas and your life forever!

  Mary Did you Know?

Mary righteous and holy, chosen woman by God to be the great mother of all. Did she truly comprehend all that her child would be? Could she have imagine that she would need this child more then He needed her?

The truth is that even Mary needed the light that only her son would carry.

Did you know that you require this same light?

  What about me?

Good News Shield Church!

When we looked at Mary’s story, we see how favoured by God she was that she would be asked to bear his only son, but this can make us look at ourselves and think; I’m nowhere near her high standard? I’m not pure, kind or loving enough.

So, is there any good news for me? The shepherds would have asked themselves the same question, they weren’t rich, successful or Important, yet an angel appeared to make sure they received this great message:

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Luke 2:8-10

The good news is this message is for everyone – it says: “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” This is for ALL of us, rich, poor, spiritual and unspiritual! This great light that has dawned is for you and me, no matter who we are or what situation we are in!

What if I ask, seek and knock?

Ask Seek Knock!

Three wise men set out on a long journey, seeking something special, having only a star to guide them. They followed faithfully as they knew if they were to seek, they would find something life changing.

Our lives today can seem so full with possessions and activities, yet can feel so dark, alone and empty. Because all too often we seek in all the wrong places for something to fill the hole that is in our lives. We look to alcohol, material possessions even relationships, which all bring little reward, most make our world darker still. This is because there is only one light that can transform us, only one light of the world!

We can all experience this light, as the bible promises: to those who will ask will be answered and those who seek will find, to those who knock the door will be opened.

Where are you looking for the truth?

Who is the light of the world?

I AM The Light!

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2

This Christmas this promise still stands. Just like Mary, the Shepard’s and the wiseman those thousands of years ago, received this light which was Jesus Christ himself. His friendship is what changed their lives forever, He is the light which drove away all darkness and set them free.

Jesus said:

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Please join us this Christmas to receive the greatest gift of all.

  Happy and blessed Christmas!
